Summary Getafe vs. Barcelona 13-12-2014

Getafe FC welcomed Barcelona FC on their Coliseum Alfonso Perez stadium. The weather conditions weren’t perfect, because of rain and wet pitch. Since Real Madrid FC defeated Almeria on Saturday, the Catalonian club was facing a very big pressure. Barcelona were in a great mood, since they won the last eight games in all competitions, and they tried to beat Getafe and close the gap to 2 points behind Real Madrid in the Spanish Primera.

Besides these facts, Getafe were in the middle of the table in the Spanish Primera. Getafe also had big problems with injured players such as Escudero and Lago.

Getafe vs. Barcelona 13-12-2014 Highlights

In the match between Getafe and Barcelona, we hadn’t watched the Brazilian player Neymar, since he couldn’t play because of his injured ankle, but Pedro was a good substitution and a great addition to the team. We had also watched the comebackers from injuries in Barcelona FC – Claudio Bravo, the goalkeeper and the best side defensive player, Dani Alves.

In the first half of the match, we hadn’t seen much from both sides, but Barcelona had better ball possession in the game. Almost every pass and every chance were made by Luis Suarez, who tried to find Messi and score a goal for his team. Despite of ball possession advantage, the club from Catalonia didn’t make a real goal chance. The most dangerous chance came from Getafe’s player Lafita, who came close to Barcelona’s goal, but his try was blocked by a great stop from Claudio Bravo.

In the second half, Barcelona raised the pressure and almost every chance happened in Getafe’s half of the pitch. Lionel Messi tried to score from free kicks, but one of his attempts was blocked by Guaita, Getafe’s goalkeeper and the second attempt hit the woodwork. Also, a hit from Luis Suarez went over the bar. The match was finished without goals with the result 0-0.

Getafe can be very happy, because they won a point in this game and left Barca 4 points behind Real Madrid. They played well with hard and disciplined defense which didn’t let Catalonian players to play their game and devastate their net.

Barcelona FC had the possession of the ball of 76 per cent, whereas Getafe’s was 24 per cent. Barcelona made a lot of attempts on goal, but only 2 of them were real shots. Also, there were only 2 yellow cards, both on Getafe’s side (Diego Castro and Sarabia).

Luis Enrique, Barcelona’s trainer, is far from happy because of this 0-0 result, and his team lost the valuable opportunity to be the first on the table. FC Barcelona is now on the second Place in the Primera with 35 points, which is 4 points less from Real Madrid.
