Who is Going to Win the 2014 Ballon d’Or Prize?

Is Cristiano Ronaldo Going to Win the 2014 Ballon d’Or Prize?

The golden boy of Portugal’s current generation, the current holder of the Ballon d’Or and the biggest star of Real Madrid has reached the top 3 of this contest for the 4th year consecutively. He has been the record breaking top-scorer in a single Champions League season with 17 goals. Having played a crucial role in the Galacticos winning run of the Champions League last season, he scored the last goal of the competition in the final from the spot ensuring the Decima for the Spanish capital side. He started the year 2014 by becoming the first Portuguese player to win the Ballon d’Or twice. He was the top scorer of the La Liga season with 31 goals from 30 games. Despite the poor display at World Cup with Portugal, Ronaldo has been in scintillating form with Madrid and is deservedly a favorite to defend his title. At 29 years of age Ronaldo shows no sign of wearing off when it comes to form. He has been the most exciting prospect of club soccer and has proved himself as a lethal goal scoring machine for a very competitive Madrid side.

Is Messi Good Enough to Win the 2014 Ballon d’Or Prize?

The four year Ballon d’Or streak of the Argentine was put to a halt by Cristiano last year. The reason for this being the absence from matches due to an unfortunate injury earlier in 2013. But having returned from the injury the little wizard has shown no slump in his flair. He was the second in Liga when it came to goals scored (28). His absence from the team indicated just how important he is for Barcelona as they lost their winning form in mid season without him and ultimately ended up surrendering the title to Atletico Madrid despite Leo’s return. This year Lionel has again clinched several records the notable ones including the La Liga all time top-scorer and the Champions league all time-top scorer. His most glaring achievement this season has been the World Cup campaign with Argentina where he played in all the seven matches scoring 4 goals and winning the Adidas Golden Ball award, but sadly as a consolation. The Argentine’s superb performance with his national as well as the club side is one of the defining factors of his standing amongst the all-time greats of the game and winning a 5th Ballon d’Or would be a visible reason.

Is Manuel Neuer Going to Win the 2014 Ballon d’Or Prize?

It is a big honor for every goalkeeper in this world to have Manuel Neuer among the top 3 contenders for the Ballon d’Or. It is a proof in itself that the role of a goalkeeper is highly significant in a team now that Neuer is on the verge of breaking the dominance of Cristiano and Lionel. The German stands tall along with Cristiano and Lionel who have both been dominating the Ballon d’Or contention from almost the last 8 years. He deservedly won the Golden glove award for World Champions Germany in the World Cup in Brazil. He has performed several key saves in Germany’s winning run to the ultimate prize. Despite the Champions league semi-final exit Neuer has been the most impressive goalkeeper of club soccer with Bayern Munchen last season. He has also bagged two medals last season for winning the Bundesliga and the DFB cup with the German giants. The traits that make this goalkeeper special are his out of the box abilities of sweeping and being involved in the teams moves and his high presence on the field, game involvement and awareness despite of his being a goalkeeper. He has taken goalkeeping to a totally different level and that is one of the key reasons why he is among the Best players to earn a shot at the individual prize.
