This year was exceptional for Lionel Messi, or maybe not. If you look at his performances as an individual, he played a great year and broke a bunch of records. But there is a catch, he didn’t win any trophies with his club FC Barcelona, or his national team Argentina. Let us start from the beginning. Let’s learn about Messi all goals, assists in 2014 for Barcelona and Argentina
How Many Goals Messi Scored for Barcelona and Argentina in 2014?
With FC Barcelona he played 52 games in this calendar year, scoring 50 goals and making 19 assists. In La Liga he played 36 matches and scored almost that many goals, 35 with 14 assists. He was that good in other competitions. In Copa Del Rey he scored 5 goals in 6 games with 3 assists, and in Championship League he had 10 out of 10 goals and matches providing 2 assists as well. Unfortunately, this great run couldn’t get Barcelona to the very end in any competition in the season 2013/2014. This season, from that what they showed in the second part of 2014, they could just make it to the trophies but only if they keep up this rhythm.
With Argentina, Messi was so close to winning FIFA World Cup (only thing he’s missing), but like with Barcelona, he couldn’t get to the end. Argentina lost in the final game against Germany. He played total of 14 games for Argentina national team, scoring 8 times and assisting 3 times. In 7 friendly games, he scored 4 times with 2 assists. In FIFA World Cup he also played 7 games, with 4 goals and 3 assists. He was awarded Golden Ball for being the tournament’s best player.

Now the records. The first came on 22 of November when he broke Telmo Zarra’s record for the highest scoring player in La Liga. Messi scored a hat-trick that took him to 253 La Liga goals making him the player with most goals in La Liga ever. After only 3 days, another record was broken with another hat-trick. In the game against APOEL, Messi overtook the first position from Raul being the player with the most goals in Championship League.
