Messi 76 Goals: More Goals than Pele in One Calendar Year

Leo Messi, one of the best players of all time, has just made another outstanding record. This 25-year-old Argentine international scored 76 goals in a calendar year which is one more than legendary Pele’s record. This Barcelona forward is a TRUE genius.

Messi scored two goals in Spanish La Liga against Mallorca, and the last goal broke Pele’s record made in 1958, though this Argentina is yet to break German genius Gerd Muller’s 85 goals. Chances are pretty high that he will make it.

Out of these incredible 76 goals, 48 were scored in La Liga; 33 last season, and 15 this season. Also, he scored 11 Champions league goal including 5 goals against Leverkusen, 3 in Spanish Cup, and 2 in Spanish Super Cup.

It is proven that Messi scored the highest number of goals against Atletico Madrid, but this year his choices were Bayer Leverkusen (5 goals), Valencia (4 goals), and Espanyol (4 goals).

You may have heard that two Leverkusen players had a fight to grab Messi’s jersey. One collected it in the half time, and other player collected it after the match, though they could not keep it.
