Barcelona's performance in 2014
2014 didn’t turn out well for FC Barcelona. It started bad from the very start of the year, Sandro Rosell resigned as president and was replaced with Josep Maria Bartomeu. In the April they were banned from buying players for two transfer windows following  the violation of the FIFA’s rules about the transfer of soccer players aged under 18. After the appeal, the punishment was suspended. At the end of the season 2013-2014 another big change happened. Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino was replaced by Barcelona’s favorite Luis Enrique. They failed to win any trophies also in the 2014. They were close to wining their 23rd La Liga trophy, but they failed to defeat Atletico Madrid in direct clash for the title.  As of the performance on the pitch, things do not seem so bad. They have played 56 matches in complete. Let us look at their La Liga, Championship Legaue and Spanish Cup performances.

Barcelona Stats in 2014

In La Liga, they played 37 games with 24 wins, 7 draws and only 6 defeats. The goal difference is stunning. 92 goals scored from 639 shots at goal and only 28 conceded. They finished season 2013-2014 in the second place, behind Atletico Madrid and in this season they are on the second place as well behind Real Madrid.

In Championship League, they played 10 matches this year with seven wins, one draw and two defeats. They scored 20 goals and conceded 8.  In the season behind us they were eliminated  from the Champions League in the quarterfinals from Atletico Madrid. Now they are through to the final 16 and will play with Manchester City for the quarter finals.

In Copa Del Rey, they played 9 matches with 7 wins, one draw and one defeat. They scored 31 goals and conceded 6 of them. Their defeat came in the final of season 2013-2014, where they were defeated by Real Madrid.

With all of that said, we see that Barcelona have played quite well through the year 2014, but they lacked some luck. Let’s hope the odds will be in their favor in the year 2015.
